Main duties of the job
The Role:
We seek an Occupational Therapist to join our esteemed service at Osman House.
This role involves working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team (including Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Support Workers) using a neurobehavioral model. The focus is on providing person-centered, evidence-based rehabilitation.
This community-based inpatient setting is led by a consultant neuropsychologist. Service users may have complex needs, including cognitive, behavioral, physical, and emotional difficulties following brain injury.
You will work holistically with service users to address all aspects of recovery, aiming to maximize independence and participation in social, leisure, and vocational activities.
We offer specialist training, supervision (via the Clinical Lead OT), development opportunities, and encourage involvement in service development and research within Brainkind.
You will have the flexibility to work creatively and autonomously.

Job responsibilities
Main tasks include:
* Managing a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based, person-centered approaches.
* Assessing, formulating treatment plans, implementing, and evaluating interventions.
* Addressing occupational performance and skill deficits to promote independence.
* Developing care programs, ensuring detailed handovers, and monitoring progress.
* Delegating tasks appropriately and supervising colleagues where applicable.
* Engaging with service users and families empathetically, including those resistant to rehabilitation.
* Conducting risk assessments and maintaining accurate documentation.
* Collaborating with external agencies and working within infection control guidelines.
* Leading on some service user contacts, discharge planning, and service development initiatives.
* Planning and evaluating group interventions and providing social and lifestyle advice.
* Supporting clinical governance and quality improvement activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy.
* Registered with the HCPC.
* Practice placement qualification or willingness to undertake within the first year.
* Knowledge of occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
* Postgraduate study evidence.
* Membership of RCOT and SSNP preferred.
* Experience with challenging behaviors or mental health issues.
