Degree: City and Guilds Level 3 in BUILDING SERVICES, ENGINEERING SERVICE & MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

About the Apprenticeship: The Airbus Facility Management Technical Apprenticeship provides a full learning experience with invaluable industry exposure. Achieve a Level 3 apprenticeship framework in Facilities Maintenance while earning a full-time salary with zero fees. The program combines vocational training, placements focusing on maintenance methodologies, sustainability, health and safety, and contract management, with progression into Facilities Management where you learn to coordinate and manage a team of maintenance professionals.
What You Will Be Doing
Year 1: Building Foundations — BUILDING SERVICES, ENGINEERING SERVICE & MAINTENANCE ENGINEER Level 3 qualification provided by GLP Training. Based at Stevenage with 2 days per quarter at GLP training facility in Worcester. Activities include:
 * Site induction to learn the ropes and meet key people.
 * Develop time and project management skills; ensure tasks are delivered on point.
 * Understand roles and responsibilities of experts and work as part of a high-performing team.
 * Introduction to Mechanical & Electrical systems; understand electricity and its role in powering operations.
 * Hands-on system testing, decommissioning, fault finding, diagnosis, and replacement of components across systems.
Year 2: Growing Your Expertise —
 * Planned and reactive maintenance; risk assessments, work programmes, control systems, and reporting.
 * Master air conditioning and cooling systems; optimise Building Management Systems (BMS) for comfort and efficiency.
 * Develop customer interaction skills; ensure safe, compliant, and professional delivery.
 * Gain knowledge of essential regulations (PUWER, RIDDOR, COSHH, LOLER, MHOR, PPE, Electricity at Work, Work at Height, Asbestos & Building Regulations).
Outward Bounds: In year 2 you will attend a week of Team Building activities at Outward Bounds UK sites as part of cohort activities.
Year 3: Becoming a Specialist
 * Develop expertise in water treatment and testing, including legislation, hygiene, and legionella prevention.
 * Deepen knowledge of sustainability and environmental protection measures.
 * Learn advanced installation, maintenance, and repair techniques with evolving regulations.
 * Contract Management & Professional Growth — build confidence in contract management including supplier management, KPI assessment, recording, and process confirmations.
 * Prepare for End-Point Assessment with a knowledge test, written project, practical observation, and professional discussion.
This apprenticeship integrates theory with hands-on practice, supported by experienced mentors and a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence.
Requirements
Eligibility: Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English and Science.

 * Ability to work both in a team and independently; ability to follow technical instructions.
