Job Overview
T12 South is looking for a motivated Band 3 to join our team working on our children’s cancer ward. We are looking for an enthusiastic and supportive person who has a passion for working with young people between the ages of 13-19 years and can work as part of our team to provide high‑quality and specialist person‑centred care.
Experience with adolescents and mental health is essential. This is a full‑time position (37.5 hrs per week) including nights and weekends.
Main Duties
T12 South is a 12‑bed adolescent inpatient unit providing care for teens with a range of physical and mental health conditions. You will be educated to NVQ level 3, have excellent communication skills and demonstrate commitment to delivering excellent patient care. Phlebotomy experience would be beneficial. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake further study and additional training and development opportunities.

Person Specification
* Knowledge & Qualifications
o Vocational Level 2 in health or equivalent relevant experience
* Desirable Criteria
o Be willing to undertake level 2 functional skills
* Experience (Essential)
o Experience in carrying out assigned duties/assisting qualified staff
o Working in a team
o Experience of working in a mental health care or related setting
o Good standard of written and spoken English
o Experience of working with children and young people
* Communication (Essential)
o Able to communicate accurately and effectively with patients and colleagues, verbally and in writing
o Able to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks
o Able to deal with the public in person and on the phone
o Able to support and reassure patients/carers in distress
o Understands importance of maintaining confidentiality
* Personal And People Development (Essential)
o Demonstrates understanding of own role within the team
o Willing to produce a personal development plan with manager
o Willing to develop self & undertake in‑house study
* Provision of Care to meet health and wellbeing needs (Essential)
o Articulates reasons for desire to work with young people with mental health needs
