Engineering Manager Location – Northamptonshire Shift Pattern – Monday to Friday with flexibility I am recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join a great FMCG Manufacturer in the area to lead their engineering operations and drive performance. In this role you will be managing a team of 8 engineers, and will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement through effective leadership, maintenance strategy and project delivery. Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership to the engineering team, mentoring and developing technicians to achieve competency and performance standards. Develop and implement a proactive maintenance strategy to ensure optimal reliability and efficiency of plant machinery and equipment. Manage the engineering department’s budget and resources effectively, ensuring delivery of business KPIs related to safety, quality, service, and cost. Ensure full compliance with engineering standards and legislation, including PUWER, LOLER, IEE, BRC, and customer codes of practice. Lead engineering improvements focusing on quality, reliability, cost reduction, and capacity enhancement. Conduct feasibility studies and prepare capital expenditure proposals in partnership with finance and central engineering teams. Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture, ensuring all engineering and project activities meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Build strong working relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to support continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all maintenance and critical process equipment records are accurately logged and up to date for compliance and due diligence. Requirements: Proven experience managing an engineering team within a manufacturing or process environment. Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment Worked in a similar role such as (engineering manager, maintenance manager, area engineering manager) Strong technical understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems. Knowledge of statutory engineering standards (COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, IEE). Knowledge of PLCs systems. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, and engineering projects effectively. Strong leadership and people development skills, with the ability to motivate high-performing teams. Commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering. Experience with food manufacturing or BRC-accredited environments.
