Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - Transition Pool

Position Summary
Quinte Health’s Transition Pool offers an exciting opportunity to explore diverse clinical areas, build a wide range of skills, and uncover where you truly thrive—all while making a meaningful impact on patient care.
As a member of the Transition Pool, you’ll benefit from an 8‑week orientation program designed to set you up for success. Spend the first four weeks on a Medicine/Surgical unit, working closely with a consistent mentor to build your foundation. Afterwards, dive into a variety of specialized units, including Acute Stroke/Rehab, Complex Continuing Care, Behavioral Support, and Transitional Care Unit.
Requirements
* Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
* Current CPR, BLS, or BCLS certificate.
* Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload.
Duties
* Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching, and education.
* Perform acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills, and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
* Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
* Maintain nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
* Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards, and best practices within the nursing profession.
* Maintain professional competence by completing regular professional development, including annual training and education as indicated.
* Participate in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
* Adhere to a safe and healthy workplace and maintain a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards, and adherence to health and safety related policy and procedures.
* Adapt and adhere to the values of QH while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
* Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands Analysis
Strength
Required Sporadically – average under 30 pounds lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling.
Required in extreme emergency – 100 pounds.
Mobility
Required Often – standing.
Required Frequently – sitting, walking, on hard floor surface.
Required Occasionally – stooping, lateral bending, foot activation, kneeling, bending.
Required Rarely – crouching, squatting.
Dexterity
Required Frequently – both hands for reaching, reaching above shoulder, fine finger movement, foot action, pinching, gripping/grasping, and eye/hand coordination.
