Bay Lymphology has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Health Care Assistant to train and develop into a part-time Assistant Lymphoedema Practitioner for our Lymphoedema service, based in Kendal.
We seek a compassionate, caring support worker, enthusiastic and motivated to develop professionally. The successful candidate will work closely with health and social care colleagues to provide high-quality care for patients with primary and secondary Lymphoedema or at risk. Full training and a preceptorship will be provided, leading to qualification as an Assistant Lymphoedema Practitioner. Experience is not essential but interest in chronic illness, cancer, and palliative care is desirable.
Main duties of the job
1. Understand lymphoedema, including causes, signs, symptoms, and management.
2. Assist in managing caseloads, providing patient-centered care such as skin care advice, lymphatic drainage, compression bandaging, and garment fitting.
3. Work with patients and Lymphoedema Practitioners to implement care plans, assess progress, and escalate concerns.
4. Participate in research, audits, and service awareness activities.
5. Engage in ongoing professional development and skills training.
6. Ensure infection control, health and safety, and contribute to service evaluation through data collection.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications: GCSEs in English and Maths, computer literacy.
Desirable Qualifications: NVQ/BTEC in Health and Social Care.
Other requirements include DBS checks, sensitivity, knowledge of NHS developments, and willingness to undertake specific lymphoedema training. Experience in lymphoedema management and community care is desirable but not essential.
