Job Title: Learning Consultant
Salary: £8,000, inclusive of VAT and expenses
Terms: Freelance contract
Location: Kempton Steam Museum, Middlesex TW13 6XH
Kempton Steam Museum, operated by Kempton Great Engines Trust, is home to the world’s largest operational triple-expansion steam engine, which supplied water to much of London until 1980. Our project, Clean Water for Life – reaching a wider audience, is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we aim to transform Kempton Steam Museum’s engagement with visitors and the local community, while enhancing support for volunteers and care of collections.
As part of this project, we are seeking a Learning Consultant to design high-quality, curriculum-linked digital learning resources aimed at Key Stages 1 and 2 (KS1 and KS2). Our aim is to increase engagement with schools locally and regionally, developing our role as an educational resource. The resources should be designed to be accessible, engaging, and impactful, catering for schools that visit the museum but also those that might access the resources online. The expected delivery period for this project is six months, with the final resources ready for publication by the end of June 2026. All deliverables must adhere to The National Lottery Heritage Fund accessibility guidelines.
We invite prospective consultants to propose their methodology for delivering this project, outlining the approaches they plan to use to develop the learning materials.
* A detailed methodology for developing the resources, ensuring curriculum alignment and accessibility on no more than 2 sides of A4.
* A timeline for project delivery with key milestones.
* Relevant experience in creating educational content, especially for KS1 and KS2.
* CVs of key team members to be involved in the project.
* A breakdown of costs, including day rates and estimated days per team member.
Proposals should be submitted via email tosophie.hodgetts@kemptonsteam.org with the subject line: Learning Consultant Proposal – Kempton Great Engines Trust. If you have any questions about the role, please contact Sophie Hodgetts at the email above.
