Job summary The successful applicant will provide an expert service as an Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in the diagnosis and management of patients referred to the Aneurin Bevan Health Board Trauma and Orthopaedic Knee Service. To work in partnership with other specialities, GP's and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), acting as an expert resource in acute soft tissue knee conditions. Working primarily in orthopaedic clinics, they will be responsible for the diagnosis and management of patients with acute soft tissue knee conditions, from referral sources including GPs, Minor Injury Units and Physiotherapy. The post is provided to support improvements against the Welsh Government guidelines for treatment and outpatient pathways. Main duties of the job As a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist with Trauma and Orthopaedics, the post holder will ensure the delivery of a high-quality service to the local population. To be responsible for a complex orthopaedic caseload, using enhanced clinical decision-making skills in close collaboration with relevant consultants. Take the lead on developing post-operative follow up services for surgical patients, including collecting appropriate PROMS. The post holder will investigate and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate clinical diagnosis, evaluation and prognosis as part of the comprehensive assessment of patients, in a wide range of highly complex conditions, to recommend the best course of intervention. The post holder will accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To provide effective clinical leadership, ensuring that clinical supervision, training and ongoing development are delivered to members of the MDT and to wider services, including physiotherapy, the Minor Injuries Unit and inpatient services as appropriate. The post holder will use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes.
