Job Title: Endur Technical Architect
Location: 60/40 with 3 days in Canary Wharf OR remote anywhere in UK
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length/End Date: 31st December with possibility of extension
Working hours: 40 hrs/week
Role Overview
Work directly with subject matter experts, product owners, designers, technical leads, and other architects to re-architect and design the next-generation Gas and Power trading platform using modern technologies, aligned with business and technology strategies. Deep knowledge of energy trading and risk management processes across front, middle, and back-office functionalities, with an emphasis on physical trading.
Responsibilities include:
* Designing architecture of modern, bespoke energy trading systems, documenting and agreeing on key design decisions and trade-offs with stakeholders.
* Gathering requirements, analysis, and design across functional, non-functional, technical, and operational areas.
* Serving as a thought leader and advisor for delivery and design reviews.
* Handling business changes and managing stakeholder expectations.
* Managing communication across multiple teams, vendors, and consulting staff.
* Understanding deal lifecycle processes.
Qualifications
Key Skills
1. Strong functional understanding of physical trading, preferably Gas and/or Power, including complex contract optionality, portfolio, and schedule optimization. Knowledge of options modeling and dependency graphs.
2. Proven expertise in architecture facets such as:
* Data: Data modeling for transactional and analytic use cases, real-time reporting, data migration, and reconciliation. Familiarity with MongoDB.
* Technical: Experience in architecture and design patterns, AWS services, programming (C#/Java), microservices (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes), web UI (React), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
* Integration: Real-time messaging, API design (JSON, Swagger), batch techniques.
* Infrastructure and Operational: DevOps practices, CI/CD, automated deployments, cloud infrastructure, Grid Computing, cost optimization.
1. Thorough understanding of Agile methodologies.
2. Ability to work independently or in small teams.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Familiarity with microservices architecture, containerization, messaging, caching, and AWS cloud hosting.
6. Experience in full lifecycle physical energy trading, ideally in power and/or gas markets.
