We have over 6,000 highly trained clinical staff. This includes doctors, nurses, midwives, health visitors, therapists, and healthcare scientists.
We are looking to appoint new Healthcare Assistants to join our team on in New Wing Theatres
We are looking for enthusiastic & caring individuals, with excellent communication skills.
We require you to have a good standard of English and numeracy skills, and a passion for looking after older people.
Should you be shortlisted we will invite you to attend a numeracy and literacy competency test. If you meet the standards we require, you will be interviewed. This process is aimed at identifying whether we are the right employer for you, and whether you are the right candidate for us.
Main duties of the job
A Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients complying with the Trust Moving and Handling policy
Report accidents/incidents and faulty equipment and complete appropriate Trust documentation.
·labelling specimens from within the sterile field as directed by Scrub Nurse in charge
Adhere to the Trust uniform policy and maintain a professional image Maintenance of appropriate patient records and Trust documentation
To assist in the maintenance of the sterile field during operative procedure
To perform circulating duties including counting of swab, instruments and needles and providing the scrub nurse with sterile consumables, accurately, effectively.To set up specialist surgical equipment i.e. lasers, camera systems, microscopes, operating tables .Assist the team in maintaining the privacy and dignity issues of patients and staff, and ensure all known cultural beliefs are adhered
Attend In-Service Training and other training programmes as require
Maintain stock levels in theatre
Assist with the calculation of blood /fluid loss for patients in theatre and report promptly to the scrub nurse

Education
Essential criteria
11. Level 2 or Level 3 (NVQ) in health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience
12. Willing to work towards Level 2 functional skills (Math & English)
13. Care Certificate/working towards
Experience

14. Experience of working with people, ideally in a front-line customer service role
15. Experience of providing person centred care.
Knowledge

16. An understanding of the importance of patient confidentially and privacy
17. Recognise how patients and colleagues need to be treated with dignity and respect and can demonstrate these behaviours in their daily work.
18. Good verbal and written English communication skills.
19. Basic knowledge of health and safety with an awareness of the importance of following Trust policies and procedures.
20. A willingness to provide the highest standards of patient care including personal care
