We're seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design, build, and scale AI-powered solutions that deliver real business value. You'll combine hands-on development with technical leadership, driving the adoption of Generative AI and LLM technologies across this global organisation based in Glasgow
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, scalable AI and LLM-powered applications
- Build production-ready solutions using modern AI architectures
- Collaborate with Product, Data, and Operations teams to identify AI opportunities
- Optimise solutions for performance, reliability, security, accuracy, and cost
- Lead AI projects from prototype through to production
- Define engineering standards, best practices, and technical roadmaps
- Mentor developers and provide technical leadership
- Evaluate AI tools, frameworks, cloud platforms, and infrastructure
- Ensure quality through testing, code reviews, monitoring, and observability
- Promote responsible and secure AI development
In order to be successful in the role, candidates ideally need
- Hands-on experience with Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Experience with RAG, prompt engineering, AI evaluation, embeddings, and vector search
- Knowledge of AI infrastructure, vector databases, and AI agent frameworks
- Strong development skills in Python, TypeScript, Node.js, React and/or .NET
- Experience with REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Git, CI/CD, and cloud platforms
- Understanding of secure and responsible AI principles
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers
- Passion for AI and emerging technologies
