You’ll work with the store team to deliver high-standard clinical care and customer service to meet both patient needs and business objectives. And of course, you’ll be a key part in creating a warm and friendly environment for our customers and our team.
Our store
A brand-new opportunity has arisen for a qualified optometrist at the Specsavers Ayr store. Due to ongoing success, the store is keen to expand its team of exceptional optometrists in order to offer the best possible service to its loyal customer base. Established in 1995, Specsavers Ayr has grown from strength to strength and now employs 37 staff and operates out of 7 testing rooms, across 2 floors. The store has come a long way since the 1990s and not only does it look fresh and modern, it also boasts the latest in technology such as OCT. The store proudly plays an active part in the local community and beyond and offers a relaxed working environment where everyone supports each other for the good of the business and its customers. Our Ayr practice prides itself on providing excellent clinical care, working with local authorities to provide diabetic retinopathy screening as well as cataract post op and LVA assessment services. This practice sees a lot of different pathology, making it the perfect place to expand your clinical knowledge.
The practice currently has three Optometrists that can independently prescribe and are always happy to nurture and provide support for those that are eager to become IP accredited. Ayr itself is renowned for its beautiful coastline and beaches as well as its racecourse, golf courses and breath-taking countryside. All of which is only a 40-minute drive from Glasgow.

We do need you to have a few skills to get started in this role. Firstly, you’ll need to be registered as a member of the General Optical Council (keeping this up to date).
