Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced Load Shovel/Machine operator for our site in Droylsden, Manchester. The role operates on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.
Responsibilities
* Machinery & Plant Operation: Be proficient in operating all machinery and plant essential to the business unit, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
* Maintenance: Conduct daily and weekly checks on machinery and plant; perform refuelling, lubrication, and greasing as needed; promptly record and report defects or breakdowns.
* Production Reporting: Accurately report daily production output and any downtime to the Operations Manager for review and action.
* Work Environment: Maintain a safe and organized workspace; keep walkways and emergency exits free of obstructions; always use appropriate safety equipment and PPE.
* Incident Reporting: Report non-conforming wastes or contamination, accidents, incidents, near-misses, environmental hazards, and health & safety breaches to the relevant manager.
* Continuous Improvement:
o Training: Undertake necessary training to expand capabilities, including operation of additional machinery or equipment.
o Audits & Checks: Conduct random checks and audits on machinery under your remit to ensure compliance with operational standards.
* Flexibility & Business Continuity: Cover other operational roles as needed to ensure continuity of business activities; engage in manual handling tasks to assist with waste management activities.
* Health & Safety: Take responsibility for personal health and safety, and that of colleagues; identify and report unsafe conditions; adhere to the company’s management systems, safe systems of work, and legal requirements.
