Offer description

About The Role

As our Technical Platform Principal Lead, you’ll set the technical direction and day‑to‑day standards that keep our Microsoft estate secure and scalable. You’ll lead the D365 & Azure function defining the roadmap, establishing controls, and ensuring alignment across solution architecture for D365 Finance & Operations (F&O) and D365 WMS/SCM. Partnering closely with programme leads, you’ll own the technical standards, procedures, and controls across our Azure and D365 platform whilst driving governance, integration, automation, and cost‑aware decisions that enable secure, agile operations at scale.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

You’ll lead the D365 and Azure technical team, ensuring clear priorities and strong delivery. Your focus will be on maintaining stable operations while driving change, owning the full environment lifecycle from development to production. You’ll define integration architecture, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure readiness for SIT and UAT. Monitoring and performance will be key, using Azure tools to provide proactive visibility and automation. You’ll also manage technical services and apply FinOps principles to optimise cost and performance.

A Few Things About You

You’re a clear, confident communicator and people leader who sets transparent expectations and measures what matters. You think critically, challenge constructively, and improve ways of working. With proven expertise in Azure governance, automation, and operational reliability, you bring hands-on knowledge of D365 F&O and WMS/SCM and strong instincts for configuration versus customisation. Delivery-focused and comfortable with SDLC and release procedures, you design with security and compliance in mind—applying RBAC, PAM, MFA, secure-by-design principles, and GDPR/UK DPA requirements.

Essential skills

1. Azure governance & automation (monitoring, policy/controls, infra-as-code desirable).
2. D365 F&O and WMS/SCM—solution patterns, integration touchpoints, and operational guardrails.
3. Environment lifecycle management across Dev → Prod, including SIT/UAT/Staging readiness.
4. Integration & CI/CD—Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions, pipelines, branching, and release controls.
5. Observability with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Logic Apps; ITSM integration.
6. Security & access—RBAC, PAM, MFA, and secure‑by‑design principles.
7. Regulatory awareness—GDPR / UK Data Protection Act implications for data and environments.
8. Leadership—line management of Solution Architect, Technical Consultant, and DevOps Engineer.

Nice to Have's

9. Modern data & cloud exposure across broader Azure services and cost‑optimised architectures.
10. Big data / streaming familiarity (e.g., event‑driven designs) for high‑throughput integrations.
11. Service management practices (OLA/SLA design, service catalogue, MTTR/SLAs).

Bonus points

12. Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant Associate
13. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
14. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
15. Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
16. ITIL Foundation Certification
