Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Generator Technician (Electrical), located in Aberdeen. The Generator Technician will support client maintenance contracts for diesel generator packages, including installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and generator equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Carry out all aspects of generator maintenance, oil & filter changes, coolant & fuel sampling
* To fault find of both electrical and mechanical issues
* To service and maintain all types of generators, on-site or in the workshop
* Load test generators on-site or in the workshop
* Carry out control panel upgrades on-site or in the workshop
* Involvement in the build and test of project specific generator packages
* Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed
* Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
* Liaise with the Project Team, clients and suppliers as required
Skills & Knowledge
* To have good knowledge of and to interrogate different types of control systems DSE, DEIF and ComAp
* A good working knowledge of generator controls, alternators and AVRs.
* Good knowledge of different ATS and synchronising systems
* An understanding of generator electrical schematic drawings, generator specification and onsite application
* Proven ability to deliver high-quality work while adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
* Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
* Strong fundamental knowledge of electrical design of generator packages
* Ability to be self-motivated, work independently and be resourceful
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
Qualifications
* Minimum five years’ experience in working in the generator industry
* Higher National Certificate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Qualified to Degree level would be advantageous
* Completion of a time served apprenticeship in an electrical discipline would be advantageous, inclusive of experience with diesel generators
* IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition BS7909
* Generator control systems courses would be advantageous
* Offshore survival (BOSIET) advantageous
