About Us
KAM Performing Arts Academy CIC is a not-for-profit community organisation dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people through the performing arts. We cover our outgoings (such as venue hire, tutor pay, and project costs) and reinvest any surplus back into the organisation. This ensures opportunities remain affordable, accessible, and community-focused for children and young people in Cheltenham.
Through workshops, courses, and weekly classes, we provide safe and supportive spaces where young people can grow in confidence, creativity, and performance skills.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Musical Theatre Tutor to join our team. The successful candidate will:
* Lead weekly musical theatre classes at our Cheltenham Academy (Brooklyn Road)
* Deliver community workshops that combine singing, acting, and movement
* Provide 1:1 coaching in voice, performance, or audition preparation
You will work with children and young people aged 4–16, guiding them through the key disciplines of musical theatre while encouraging confidence, creativity, and joy in performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate sessions in singing, acting, and movement.
* Support children and young people (ages 4–16) to develop performance skills and stage confidence.
* Create fun, inclusive learning environments where participants can thrive.
* Prepare groups for informal showcases, or community performances.
* Ensure safeguarding, health, and safety standards are upheld.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Experience teaching musical theatre (singing/acting/dance) to children/young people.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
* Ability to inspire, motivate, and adapt sessions to suit different ages and abilities.
* Commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the arts.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
* Formal performing arts teaching qualification or equivalent experience.
* Strong vocal teaching skills and/or movement/choreography experience.
* First Aid and/or Safeguarding training.
