About the Role
Due to continued growth, we are looking to add an Estimator to our expanding team at our Newcastle manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering or fabrication estimating - ideally with experience in sheet metal, access metalwork products, and related steel fabrication.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately pricing projects from initial enquiry through to tender submission, ensuring quotations are commercially competitive, technically accurate, and delivered on time. You’ll work closely with clients, suppliers, and our internal design and production teams to ensure that all aspects of a bid are fully considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Review project enquiries, specifications, and drawings to produce accurate cost estimates.
* Prepare detailed quotations, tender submissions, and supporting documentation.
* Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and resolve any technical or commercial queries.
* Work closely with design and production teams to ensure buildability and cost efficiency.
* Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
* Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing records.
* Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions to reduce costs.
* Support the sales and project management teams with technical and commercial input.
* Ensure all estimates are compliant with company standards and client requirements.
Key Skills & Experience
* Background in engineering, fabrication, or construction estimating.
* Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, sheet metal, and access metalwork products.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Experience with costing software and Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
* Commercial awareness and understanding of margins, mark-ups, and cost structures.
* Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
* High attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
* Proactive and organised, able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
