As part of this exciting journey, we are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Humanities teacher with a specialism in Geography, who can also deliver RVE and Welsh Bacc, to join our vibrant and supportive team.
The Role
As a Humanities teacher, you will play a central role in shaping the department’s vision, developing a stimulating curriculum, and fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for Geography among students of all ages and abilities. You will work within a collaborative team of Humanities educators, maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, while contributing to the development of a forward-thinking curriculum that prepares students to be ambitious, capable, and engaged global citizens.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging Geography lessons in accordance with the Curriculum for Wales.
2. Inspire and motivate learners to develop confidence and enjoyment in understanding physical, human, and environmental Geography.
3. Promote interdisciplinary learning through collaboration within the Humanities AoLE, making meaningful links across the curriculum.
4. Develop pupils’ geographical knowledge, skills, and critical thinking to support progress and achievement across all subject areas.
5. Embed the Four Purposes of the Curriculum for Wales into teaching and learning to support the holistic development of all learners.
6. Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress using a range of formative and summative assessment methods.Contribute to the ongoing development of an innovative and inclusive Geography curriculum that reflects the needs and interests of learners.
7. Encourage pupil participation in enrichment activities.
8. Maintain a positive, well organised, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes high expectations and mutual respect.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
9. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
10. A degree in Geography or a related subject area.
11. Strong knowledge and understanding of the Curriculum for Wales and the Humanities AoLE.
12. Ability to teach Geography and RVE across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach at Key Stage 5 desirable.
13. A strong commitment to inclusive, learner centred teaching that promotes creativity, critical thinking and confidence in communication.
14. Competence in using digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning and assessment in Geography.
15. Excellent organisational, communication and classroom management skills.
16. Enthusiasm for contributing to whole school initiatives and the wider life of the school.
