Duties
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a variety of support duties that facilitate the work of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nursing assistants and other members of the medical facility who provide Veteran care. Responsibilities include providing basic nursing care and documentation to support interdisciplinary goals identified on the care plan, prioritizing and coordinating work, and responding to clinical needs in a timely manner.
* Provide basic nursing care and documentation to support the interdisciplinary plan of care.
* Work independently, set priorities, and coordinate tasks to assist the care team.
* Process Veterans for admissions, transfers, or discharges following established guidelines.
* Document nursing care and patient education; participate in rehabilitation and diagnostic support as needed.
* Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate measures; perform basic life support as required.
* Administer medications and treatments per policy; monitor patient responses and report changes to the RN/MD.
* Collaborate with the care team to ensure quality Veteran care and adherence to care plans.
Work Schedule
Evenings or Nights with rotating days off. Telework: Not Available. This is not a virtual position.

Requirements
Conditions of employment include being a U.S. Citizen, background/security investigation, and compliance with agency onboarding procedures. Pre-employment requirements may include drug screening, English proficiency, and other federal checks. Seasonal influenza vaccination is required for Health Care Personnel.
Qualifications
Applicants may be referred and tentatively selected before all education/certification requirements are met; final hire contingent on meeting all requirements.
Basic Requirements:
* United States Citizenship
* Education: Graduation from an approved practical or vocational nursing program.
* Licensure: Full, active, current, and unrestricted LPN/LVN licensure in a U.S. state, territory, or DC.
* English Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English.
Grade Determinations: GS-3 to GS-6, as described in the job posting. Summary of expectations at each grade level includes typical duties, required experience, and the level of supervision.
* GS-3: Basic responsibilities within the scope of licensure; routine review may be required.
* GS-4: Six months of qualifying experience or equivalent education; greater independence and adherence to policies.
* GS-5: One year of experience at GS-4 level or equivalent; full range of practical nursing care; clinical training and leadership within the nursing team.
* GS-6: At least one year of additional qualifying experience; technical proficiency; ability to initiate emergency interventions and mentor less experienced staff.
Physical Requirements
Work involves sitting, standing, walking, lifting and assisting with equipment. The role may require bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing wheelchairs or other equipment, and maintaining composure in a clinical setting.
