We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to lead on Behaviour, Attendance, and Safeguarding within our Pupil Referral Unit. About the Role
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will drive strategic and operational excellence across three critical areas:
Behaviour
1. Lead a consistent, trauma-informed approach to behaviour across the provision
2. Empower staff with the tools and confidence to support complex needs
3. Ensure every pupil feels understood, valued, and supported
Attendance
4. Develop and implement innovative strategies to improve engagement and attendance
5. Break down barriers by working closely with families and external agencies
6. Champion re-engagement with education for our most vulnerable learners
Safeguarding
7. Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy DSL
8. Ensure safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do
9. Build a strong culture of vigilance, care, and professional curiosity

Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a leader who is:
15. An inspirational senior Leader with high expectations and a relentless belief in every young person
16. Experienced in working with vulnerable pupils, ideally in PRU, alternative provision or similar settings
17. Skilled in behaviour leadership and trauma-informed practice
18. Knowledgeable and confident in safeguarding and multi-agency working
19. Resilient, adaptable, and able to lead with compassion and clarity under pressure
Most importantly, you are someone who refuses to give up on children, no matter the barriers they face.
