Are you an experienced Commercial Manager looking to take the next step in your career within a world-class Defence organisation? My client, a leading name in the defence industry, is seeking a talented Commercial professional to join their team in Maidenhead on a permanent basis.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting critical Defence projects that deliver capability to the UK MOD and partners. You’ll work across the full contract lifecycle from bids and proposals through to negotiation, delivery, and change control ensuring commercial integrity and compliance at every stage.
Role: Commercial Manager
Location: Maidenhead (2 days onsite per week)
Type: Permanent
Salary: £60,000-£80,000 + bonus + benefits
Key responsibilities of the Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager role will include not be limited to:
* Acting as the primary point of contact on commercial and contractual matters for allocated projects.
* Providing commercial input into the development, approval, and submission of bids and proposals.
* Identifying and managing commercial risks through effective mitigation strategies.
* Communicating contractual obligations to project and support teams, ensuring full compliance.
* Leading negotiations on new and existing contracts, amendments, and supplier agreements.
* Supporting project procurement teams with subcontract negotiations.
* Managing contract changes and overseeing the commercial aspects of change control.
* Working closely with trade compliance to ensure adherence to regulations.
* Supporting continuous improvement of commercial policies, processes, and templates.
* Contributing to business growth through effective commercial leadership and collaboration.
Key skills and experience required for Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager and not limited to:
* Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC Level).
* Proven experience reviewing and negotiating complex contractual documents.
* Strong understanding of contract law and risk management principles.
* Previous experience in a customer-facing commercial or contracts management role.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Proactive, self-motivated attitude with the ability to manage your own workload.
* Confidence to challenge, influence, and resolve commercial issues constructively.
