Job Summary
This role is tailored for newly qualified GPs (within 2 years of qualification and without holding a substantive post) on a fixed-term salaried contract, with the potential for extension. The ARRS GP Role aims to enhance patient care and access to primary care services. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering comprehensive healthcare to our diverse patient population as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Manage routine and urgent appointments through face-to-face and telephone consultations, providing safe and evidence-based individualised patient care.
* Perform comprehensive clinical examinations and assessments, address physiological and psychological needs, and develop care plans with timely referrals in accordance with practice, PCN, and local guidelines.
* Prescribe independently within scope of practice, adhering to local or national prescribing guidelines; promote health strategies to encourage healthy lifestyles and self-care.
* Handle routine and emergency home visits; manage administrative tasks such as responding to queries, repeat prescriptions, reviewing test results, and preparing referral letters or correspondence.
* Oversee clinical management, initiate investigations, review results, refer patients to secondary care or other providers as appropriate, and develop treatment plans aligned with disease management protocols and NICE guidelines.
* Collaborate with other health and social care providers to ensure integrated services; maintain accurate patient records; support staff to meet high standards and targets; participate in role reviews to align with evolving service needs.
* On-call sessions or extended hours may be required (e.g., 7:30 am – 8:00 am, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm).

Essential Qualifications and Skills
* GMC registration with a license to practice in the UK; MRCGP or equivalent.
* Newly qualified GP (within 2 years) who has not held a substantive post.
* Proven ability to provide high-quality, evidence-based care for acute and chronic conditions; competent in comprehensive patient assessments and developing care plans.
* Ability to prescribe independently within scope of practice and adhere to guidelines; experience in preventive care and supporting patient self-management.
* Strong communication skills; patient-centered approach; ability to build rapport with a diverse patient population.
* Effective teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting; willingness to contribute to integrated care pathways.
* Strong organizational skills; ability to manage administrative tasks and maintain accurate records and referrals.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development; flexibility to participate in on-call sessions and extended hours as required.
* IT proficiency with clinical IT systems and electronic patient records; understanding of ARRS framework; alignment with NHS values.
