Overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for forward thinking, proactive and highly motivated Anaesthetic Practitioners (Registered Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs)) to join our theatre team at Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust.
Informal visits to the unit are welcome so you can come and meet us and see the way that care is delivered.
Responsibilities
* Provide expertise and assistance to the anaesthetist in the perioperative environment and out of department such as A&E, MRI, and inter-hospital transfers.
* Ensure that all equipment and drugs required are checked and available.
* Function clinically within the Operating Department as part of the team with the surgical team in roles such as preparing the operating room, transfer and safe positioning of patients.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication with all levels of staff, patients and relatives, considering impairments, levels of consciousness and language barriers.
* Adhere to local policies, guidelines and SOPs to maintain a high standard of quality care within the department.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified Anaesthetic Practitioners (Registered Nurses or ODPs).
* Excellent communication skills and a desire to learn and develop.
* Previous theatre experience is welcome; experience from other specialties or those starting in their ODP career will be considered.
* Willingness to work in a rotation across departments to develop competencies within each specialty.
