Volunteering at Citizens Advice Northumberland is rewarding, challenging, demanding and fun. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that operates across the county and also being part of a national organisation. If you want to make a real difference to people's lives by assisting them to find a way forward with their problems, this is the role for you.
We are currently looking for volunteer advisers on our Face to Face team, volunteering in our offices across Northumberland. We need people who can commit to at least 5-8 hours each week for a minimum of 12 months. Previous IT experience is essential due to the method of some of the training: e-learning, video calls, emails, online workshops and the IT use required for the role: online research on our information system and case recording.
Previous advisor experience is not necessary as full training is provided - our adviser training programme needs to be, and is very thorough. It is important that we are giving the correct advice and information to our clients and also recording it appropriately. Trainees are fully supported throughout their training journey. Please note, your training would be in another local office, and online from home. However, once trained, you could volunteer in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea. You could be advising after 6 months and fully trained after 12 to 18 months, or sooner.
If you love learning new skills and knowledge, want an interesting and rewarding volunteer experience, then please contact us for more information.
