Job Summary
Arts at Mid Cheshire Hospitals is seeking artwork for relatives spaces at Leighton Hospital in Crewe.
Job Description
Most wards at Leighton Hospital have relatives' rooms, a space for those close to a patient to have a break, have some quiet time or meet privately with other relatives or staff. Alongside this, these rooms are used daily to have difficult conversations and break sad news. Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity is funding a refurbishment project for some of these important spaces to ensure that they are comforting, calming and supportive environments for families at difficult times. Included in the project are some of our mortuary spaces. The mortuary family rooms are often used for people to spend time with their loved ones after death. The family lounges and viewing room are quiet spaces for the bereaved to pay their respects away from the busy hospital environment. Alongside this refurbishment, Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust is inviting artists to submit proposals for existing pieces of artwork, original works or high quality prints, to be installed in all or some of these spaces.
Job Requirements
The project encompasses 7 rooms altogether. Further details and dimensions of wall space are available in the information pack. Artwork needs to be sensitive to the context of the spaces, enhancing the room whilst not dominating. We are particularly interested in abstract works or those that explore connections to nature and environment. Artwork will need to be wall-based and cleaned frequently and adhere to Infection Prevention Control requirements.
Job Responsibilities
The budget available for the whole project is £10-15k and must include, or allow for, framing costs and delivery. Submissions can be made via email or WeTransfer and should include all costs inclusive of VAT, images and dimensions with a brief statement about the work and information on materials used.
