About the job
The Council’s ambition to increase the city’s tree canopy from 18.9% of the city’s land area, to 25% by 2030 and since the inception of the project 115,000 trees have been planted.
Key to the success of the project to date has been the engagement secured with and role played by the volunteer workforce and tree guardians, which has resulted in the region of 5,000 volunteer hours generated per annum.
What We Are Looking For From You
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and driven individual with strong organisational and effective communication skills to co-ordinate volunteers in tree planting, tree nursery, and tree aftercare activities.
You will possess knowledge of environmental matters and experience in arranging and leading outdoor activities.
You must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy, understanding others, recognising and adapting to a diverse range of stakeholder audiences.
The ability to collate and manage data is essential to support project activities, including site surveying and monitoring.
Additional information
Owing to the nature of the role, the post-holder will be required to work some evenings and weekends as the post demands.
This post requires the ability and motivation to work outdoors in all weathers.
