Planner / Buyer

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation within the life sciences sector, seeking an experienced Planner / Buyer to join their supply chain team. This role is critical to ensuring materials availability, production continuity, and on-time delivery in a regulated manufacturing environment.
The Role
You'll be responsible for planning production requirements and procuring raw materials, components, and consumables, ensuring demand is met while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining accurate demand forecasts
Planning and purchasing materials to support production schedules
Ensuring on-time delivery to customer request dates
Monitoring inventory levels to avoid shortages and excess stock
Managing purchase orders and supplier deliveries
Negotiating pricing, lead times, and supply terms
Leading planning reviews and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
Building strong supplier relationships and leading quarterly reviews with key partners
About You
Proven experience in planning and buying within a manufacturing environment
Background in life sciences or a regulated industry is highly desirable
Strong understanding of procurement, production planning, and inventory management
Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
Detail-oriented, proactive, and improvement-focused
Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations or similar (APICS certification beneficial but not essential)
