Specialist Educational Mental Health Clinical Lead
Job Summary
£40,057 - £45,839 per annum (Band 7).
Location: Black Country (locality base to be determined).
Hours: 37.5 per week.
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced mental health practitioner with a qualification in CBT to lead the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Support Team (MHST) across the Black Country. The role involves clinical leadership, supervisory responsibilities and partnership working with schools and local services to promote good mental wellbeing among children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Effectively triage referrals across the Black Country.
* Provide specialist assessments of children and young people.
* Develop, implement and review evidence‑based treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
* Provide clinical supervision and leadership to MHST staff, including those working toward BABCP accreditation.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of CPD programmes for staff.
* Collaborate with MHST Team Leads to implement the MHST action plan, highlight risk and plan mitigation.
* Review referral pathways and ensure they are efficiently utilised.
* Lead development of relationships with other services supporting CYP.
* Work closely with schools, develop referral pathways and plan engagement.
* Support strategic planning to ensure the needs of children, young people, parents/carers and schools inform service development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Core profession with HCPC, Social Care, Nursing or recognised degree, and completed BABCP Knowledge Skills and attributes requirement.
* Postgraduate (Masters or above) level study.
* Experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people.
* Experience across the whole age range and clinical severity, demonstrating professionalism with emotive and distressing cases.
* Holder of a CBT supervision qualification capable of supervising high and low intensity practitioners.
* Ability to travel across the Black Country with ease.
Desirable
* High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised therapies or interventions.
