The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist psychological therapy within the cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) model to individuals with mild, moderate, and severe common mental health problems in primary care and community settings, following NICE guidance and evidence-based practice. This includes triaging and screening referrals, assessing and treating suitable patients, reporting progress to referrers, and managing waiting lists. The post holder will collaborate with trainee and qualified psychological therapy practitioners, offer support and advice to colleagues, and participate in delivering mental health interventions such as outreach groups and workshops. Routine audit and evaluation of referred patients, in line with NHS Talking Therapies standards, is mandatory.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing specialist psychotherapeutic assessments: Conduct assessments based on complex psychological data from various sources, communicate outcomes to referrers and other professionals, determine patient suitability, and refer or advise accordingly.
2. Formulating and implementing treatment plans: Develop and deliver evidence-based CBT interventions across severity levels, employing appropriate theoretical frameworks and methods proven effective within the modality.
