We’re currently looking for a Junior Welder to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, entry-level opportunity ideal for someone with a recognised welding apprenticeship and a passion for learning Orbital and TIG welding in a high-quality engineering environment.
As a Junior Orbital & TIG Welder, you’ll support the manufacture of subsea umbilicals and cable assemblies, working alongside experienced professionals and receiving practical training in:
* Orbital welding equipment operation
* Manual TIG welding techniques
* Small-bore tube bending and joint preparation
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and welding specs (WPS)
This role is designed for growth—our ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to safety and quality.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Assist with production welding tasks to meet deadlines
* Develop technical skills through supervised, on-the-job training
* Support weld preparation: cutting, cleaning, and alignment
* Maintain traceability records and follow strict quality procedures
* Contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient work environment
* Participate in toolbox talks and training sessions
What You’ll Need
Essential:
* Recognised Welding Apprenticeship (or similar foundation training)
* Basic understanding of welding principles and safety practices
* A positive, proactive approach and willingness to develop new skills
* Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
* Commitment to JDR’s Core Values and Ethics Policy
Desirable:
* HNC / ONC / City & Guilds qualifications
