Overview
We are seeking a committed and vibrant teaching assistant who has a passion for supporting pupils with Speech & Language difficulties. They should be able to support the teacher with specific SLCN provision so that it can be achieved alongside a child-centred EYFS/KS1 curriculum. The teaching assistant should hold a level 2 childcare qualification (or equivalent); level 3 is desired. This is a full-time term-time, permanent EYFS/KS1 teaching assistant role, from January 2026.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils with Speech & Language needs within the Communication & Interaction unit and in mainstream settings.
* Adapt learning and use initiative to meet individual needs, contributing to inclusive practice.
* Work with the teacher to implement specific SLCN provision.
Qualifications
* Level 2 childcare qualification (or equivalent); Level 3 preferred.
* Desirable: experience of teaching pupils with Speech and language needs; knowledge of SEND provision; Early Excellence knowledge; interest in continuous provision, forest schools and play-based learning.
About the school and the role
Elveden C of E Primary Academy is a small, rural school on the outskirts of Thetford and Brandon with around 105 pupils, growing to 123. The Communication & Interaction unit supports children with speech, language and communication needs and is part of the school community. The unit will allow pupils to thrive and learn both within the unit and in the mainstream setting.
