Role Overview
The Senior IT Support Analyst will play a key role in delivering advanced technical support across a secure, highly regulated engineering environment. The role focuses on the security, resilience, and operational stability of IT systems, supported by strong expertise in infrastructure, Microsoft technologies, virtualisation, and cybersecurity best practice.
You will be part of a dedicated IT function responsible for maintaining critical business systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, and supporting ongoing improvement projects across the organisation's technical landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Operations
1. Provide advanced support for hardware, software, networking, and security incidents.
2. Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues across server, desktop, and infrastructure environments.
3. Deliver high-level support to internal users and ensure service continuity.
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
4. Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (2019-2025).
5. Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and Entra ID.
6. Support and administer Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
7. Maintain and optimise Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, and Purview.
8. Support VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon VDI platforms.
Security, Governance & Compliance
9. Ensure systems adhere to organisational security policies and regulatory standards.
10. Support compliance with cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, and CAF 2.0.
11. Deploy, monitor, and maintain endpoint security solutions.
12. Contribute to audit readiness and documentation requirements.
Backup, Recovery & Resilience
13. Support backup and disaster recovery procedures to maintain system continuity.
14. Assist in testing, validating, and maintaining DR plans and tooling.
Networking Support
15. Assist with troubleshooting network issues including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and connectivity problems.
16. Collaborate with network specialists to resolve escalated issues.
Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement
17. Participate in or lead IT projects aimed at system upgrades, security enhancements, and process improvements.
18. Contribute to technology roadmaps, system enhancements, and infrastructure evolution.
19. Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset inventories, and configuration records.
Additional Duties
20. Provide occasional out-of-hours support for maintenance windows or critical tasks.
21. Travel to satellite UK office locations when required.
Essential Skills & Experience
22. Strong 2nd line experience with exposure to 3rd line responsibilities in enterprise environments.
23. Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
24. Experience supporting VMware vSphere and Horizon VDI.
25. Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
26. Familiarity with backup solutions and business continuity processes.
27. Awareness of IT security principles and governance frameworks.
28. Excellent analytical and technical troubleshooting skills.
29. Experience supporting Autodesk products.
30. Full UK driving licence.
31. Must be a UK national due to security clearance requirements.
Desirable Skills
32. Exposure to Azure or AWS cloud environments.
33. Experience with endpoint management tools such as Intune.
34. Knowledge of alternative hypervisors (Nutanix AHV, Hyper‑V).
35. Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing.
36. Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA.
