Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team Leader


Location: Remote, with occasional travel to our offices in Deal or Cheltenham (~once a quarter)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum

Start Date: ASAP

As part of this, our RTN Academy supports Trainee Neurodevelopmental Practitioners through a comprehensive training journey — and now we’re looking for a passionate and organised Assessment Team Leader to provide hands-on guidance and day-to-day oversight.


About the Role


We’re looking for a Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team Leader to play a pivotal role in developing and supporting our team of Neurodevelopmental Practitioners as they deliver high-quality autism and ADHD assessments. Working closely with the Academy Manager, you’ll lead on coordinating team workflows, providing informal clinical guidance, and ensuring the consistency and quality of diagnostic assessments using tools such as ADOS and ADI‑R. (Full training in ADOS and ADI‑R will be provided.) This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring others, fostering professional growth, and driving high standards in neurodevelopmental services.


Key Responsibilities


Team Leadership & Coordination


* Act as the primary point of contact for a team of approximately six Neurodevelopmental Practitioners.
* Oversee day-to-day activities, monitor individual and team progress, and provide informal support and encouragement.
* Hold regular 1:1 check-ins and assist with scheduling, workload queries, and wellbeing concerns, escalating issues as appropriate.


Clinical Development & Quality Assurance


* Support Practitioners with delivering autism and ADHD assessments, offering guidance and troubleshooting where needed.
* Conduct assessments yourself using standardised tools (e.g., ADOS, ADI‑R) and mentor team members to build their competence in these areas.
* Review written summaries and clinical observations to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with RTN’s standards.
* Promote reflective practice and continuous skills development across the team.


Training & Onboarding


* Lead and support the onboarding process for new Neurodevelopmental Practitioners, helping them integrate into team processes and expectations.
* Collaborate with Clinical Leads to deliver informal training sessions, workshops, and shadowing opportunities.
* Contribute to maintaining a positive, learning-focused team culture.


Workflow Monitoring & Communication


* Maintain assessment trackers, monitor progress against timelines, and ensure team deliverables remain on schedule.
* Represent the team in internal meetings, sharing relevant updates and raising concerns where necessary.
* Ensure shared documentation and communications are accurate, timely, and professional.


About You


Essential:


* Clinical or applied experience in psychology, mental health, or neurodevelopmental services (e.g., autism, ADHD), ideally at Assistant Psychologist level or equivalent, with experience supporting, training, or managing others.
* Proven ability to coordinate team workflows and oversee progress.
* Confident supporting colleagues and facilitating reflective conversations.
* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Excellent written communication skills, including reviewing and providing constructive feedback on clinical documentation.
* Proficient using digital systems (e.g., Google Workspace, spreadsheets, calendars, trackers).
* Ability to escalate concerns appropriately and communicate clearly across clinical and organisational levels.
* A degree in Psychology (2:1 or above, or equivalent).


Desirable:


* Experience contributing to audit, quality improvement initiatives, or service development projects.
* CPD or further training in autism, ADHD, or mental health.
