The role
– Finance Manager
My client is seeking to appoint a new Finance Manager to work with and support their current team.
They’re seeking someone who has good experience of working in a smaller business covering all areas required in the finance space and is ready to take the next step in their career in a role that offers variety, purpose and development.
The ideal candidate is organised, proactive and reliable—someone who stays one step ahead, communicates effectively, and ensures financial operations run smoothly.
Duties will include:
Financial planning, budgeting and reporting
1. Work closely with owner and leadership team to support growth, efficiency and financial performance of the business
2. Manage the annual budgeting process
3. Prepare forecasts and support financial planning throughout the year
4. Produce monthly management accounts
5. Deliver monthly/quarterly/annual P&L reports on revenue, gross margin, and other metrics across business
Project finance
6. Work closely with account leaders to support growth, efficiency and financial performance of projects
7. Collaborate with account teams on revenue recognition against budget
8. Run ad hoc reports for teams to review
9. Review and approve pricing and cost proposals for new business pitches
Purchase ledger management
10. Set up new vendors in the system with appropriate checks
11. Invoice processing
12. Scheduling and processing payments to agreed payment terms
13. Cross-charging of expenses, where necessary
14. Ensure timely payment of all supplier invoices
15. Creating/sending supplier remittance advices
16. Ensuring VAT and tax treatment on supplier invoices is correctly applied
Cash flow
17. Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes; forecasting and planning payments to support cash flow management
18. Avoiding late fees and taking advantage of early payment discounts
19. Management of currency and foreign exchange issues that may arise from either revenues received, or invoices paid in non-sterling transactions
Compliance
20. Ensure compliance with tax, legal, and financial regulations
21. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as required
Systems
22. Manage financial process via QuickBooks system
23. Ensure system data is accurate with regular spot checks
Finance bookkeeping
24. This role will take full bookkeeping responsibility
25. From time to time you may be asked to provide cover for other members of the finance team
Ad hoc financial support
26. Assisting with VAT returns
27. Credit card reconciliations and team expenses
28. Support with payroll, processing salary increases or other staff benefits
29. Support for reports for shareholders
30. Support for due diligence or assessment of potential acquisitions or alliances
Experience, competencies and knowledge required:
31. Proficient in accountancy software package QuickBooks
32. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
33. Excellent attention to detail
34. Strong multi-tasking skills
35. Ability to work in a busy and fast-paced environment
