        Location: Shildon Durham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 2:30pm (term time only)
Are you passionate about making a difference to young people who’ve disengaged from mainstream education? We’re working with a fantastic independently owned Alternative Provision that offers a fresh start to students who need a different approach. This isn’t a typical classroom role – it’s about connection, patience, and consistency. You’ll work closely with small groups and individuals, helping them re‑engage with learning, build trust, and grow in confidence.
What you’ll be doing:
 * Supporting students aged 11–16 with social, emotional or behavioural needs
 * Helping deliver a flexible and engaging curriculum
 * Building strong relationships and promoting positive behaviour
 * Working as part of a close‑knit and supportive team
Who we’re looking for:
 * Someone with experience working with disengaged or vulnerable young people (schools, youth work, care or similar)
 * Calm, reliable, and confident managing behaviour
 * Someone who genuinely wants to make a difference
 * An understanding of safeguarding is essential – or a willingness to learn and complete safeguarding training
Safeguarding and the welfare of young people is paramount in this role. Full training and support will be provided.
This is a brilliant opportunity if you’re looking for a rewarding part‑time role in a setting that really values its staff and its students.
