Senior Health Care Assistant, ENT Outpatients

We are looking for a highly motivated and flexible Band 3 Healthcare assistant to join our Ear, Nose and Throat outpatient team.
The role will support the day to day running and preparation of both booked and emergency clinics, seeing both adults and children. The department supports a number of diagnostic procedures which are performed in an outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
* Care for patients attending the Main Outpatient department as delegated by the Nurse in charge, which may include collection of specimens and observations, assistance with sterile procedural clinics, and chaperoning.
* Participate in Infection Prevention and Control Measures within the Department.
* Using patient information systems, participate in the data input of patient information.
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Report to the Nurse in charge and document in accordance with Trust policy with regards to any concerns to safeguarding such as child protection and vulnerable adults.
Person Specification
Qualifications/training and professional development
* Holds Functional Skills Level 1 Maths and English or education equivalent
* Completed National Care Certificate
* Holds a level 2 Vocational Qualification (NCFE or Apprenticeship) in clinical health care OR Able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skill and competency to undertake band 3 clinical skills (described in JD)
* To undertake the Enhanced GROW Programme and completion of Clinical Skills Passport Part B
* Speciality specific training and evidence of competencies being achieved and continued development
Knowledge/Experience
* Experience working in a healthcare organisation/setting, undertaking a wide range of clinical commitments.
* Experience of communication with patients and relatives.
* Knowledge of Infection Control & Safeguarding processes.
* Experience of working with the multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of confidentiality.
* Understanding of equality and diversity issues.
Skills, abilities, and knowledge
* Good communication skills (written and verbal).
* Accurate documentation with attention to detail.
* Taking and recording vital signs and other clinical skills following appropriate training and assessment and within scope of job role.
