Job Purpose:
To ensure the business sources ethically, competitively, and efficiently. Continuous reviewing of the end-to-end supply chain, building and maintaining strong relationships with key and new suppliers. To always be commercially astute, and able to negotiate strongly and respectfully with a bias towards quality, service and margin. Proactively search out the latest product and supplier innovations across multiple sectors.
Example duties include, but are not limited to:
· Responsible for the procurement of all day-to-day business supplies, such as products, trade suppliers, consumables, transport providers, utilities, and ad-hoc purchases
· Support the sales function with prompt sourcing of products
· Work as a key member of the team to influence adoption and trials of new, innovative products with customers
· Play a critical role in driving our ESG ambitions by working on strategies to support our carbon footprint reduction
· Act as the company’s last line of defence regarding quality of products – establish a regular QC process with the operations team
· Influence and achieve savings driven out of both cost and product rationalisation
· Work closely with suppliers to trial and test new innovative products
· Anticipate and act on industry trends providing intel to make key decisions in advance e.g. economic price increases
· Maintain a close relationship with suppliers through regular communication, including site-visits
· Develop and roll out weekly supplier reporting, inclusive of industry trends, supplier performance, margin erosion, hot topics such as innovation
· Attend supplier events to drive tangible results
· Support the review and audit the product supply chain including sporadic facilities visits with key suppliers
· Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure robust cycle counting processes are in place to ensure correct stock levels
· Interrogate and extrapolate data from ERP systems and other sources to ‘crunch’
· Working with Marketing & Sales to support bid opportunities
· Ensure optimum stock holdings are maintained, and we are forward planning for increases / decreases of stock holding through robust forecasting
· Ensure supplier prices are continuously reviewed, updated and tracked
· Communicate supplier product innovations and new product releases
· Ensure the business is well informed of industry news and trends
Essential Attributes:
· CIPS qualified desirable, but not essential
· 3+ years’ experience in similar roles
· Experience of international sourcing and import processes preferable
· Familiarity with import and export rules
· Strong negotiation and influencing skills
· Team player with excellent communication and people skills
· Advanced level of MS Packages, with bias towards Excel & PowerPoint
· Experience with product forecasting and trend analysis
· Lean experience is beneficial
· Supply chain management experience
· Inventory, store, warehouse or stock management experience
· Full UK Driving license
