We are advertising for a Restraint Reduction Practitioner to join our friendly and compassionate team. This is a Trustwide post providing a service to all departments within SPFT, supporting the delivery of training which meets legal requirements and best practice guidance and support the reduction in the use of restrictive interventions.
The post holder will have responsibility for delivering Restraint Reduction training as set out by the Restraint Reduction Team Lead, offering guidance and support to Trust employees in reducing restrictive interventions and the prevention and management of violence and aggression in line with Trust polices.
The successful candidate will ensure that appropriate training records are maintained and shared with the Learning & Development team, liaising with the Restraint Reduction Team Lead on risk management aspects of use of force in accordance with relevant legislation, including Use of Force Act (2018/2021) and best practice guidance.
We are seeking a self-motivated person to actively work with clinical teams to ensure that patient safety is critically maintained through problem solving, risk management and supporting the application of skills to practice within the environment. To support and supervise junior members of the team and to undertake other areas of training and development as required in relation to Reducing Restrictive Interventions
Main duties of the job
1. Provide high quality and evidence-based training in use of force and restraint reduction.
2. Monitor incidents, escalating to the Restraint Reduction Team Lead where necessary to maintain Organisational safety.
3. Develop and facilitate learning outcomes to staff following incidents in relation to use of force and restraint reduction.
4. Share best practice within SPFT and external stakeholders to further reduce restrictive practice.
5. Focus on safe, compassionate and lawful provision of care.
6. Course development and implementation of Train the Trainer courses.
7. Working across various locations - to be discussed.

Qualifications
Essential
11. Relevant teaching qualification including; Certificate in Education.
12. Current Senior Tutor qualification or willingness to work towards including train the trainer.
Knowledge / Experience
Essential
13. Minimum of 5 years experience as a Restraint Reduction or PMVA Trainer or equivalent.
14. Minimum 2 years of working in a clinical setting in Mental Health or Learning Disability.
15. Experience of programme development and / or adaption.
16. Knowledge of Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty, Use of Force Act and Mental Health Act (1983) and relevant Health & Safety and application of physical intervention skills in this context.
17. Knowledge and understanding of practical application of NHSE&I Violence Prevention and Reduction Standards, and RRN Training Standards.

18. Good presenting skills including the ability to use a number of different mediums including virtual presentations, PowerPoint, role play.
19. Liaise and work with Restraint Reduction Team Lead and team to cascade information relevant to training and clinical issues that may arise.
20. Ability to travel across sites to deliver training and provide support.
