The Management Accountant will play a key role in the financial management and strategic growth of a fast-growing domiciliary care business with an annual turnover of £8m. Responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial information, the postholder will support senior management in decision-making, ensuring strong financial controls and providing insight into business performance.
This role is critical in balancing compliance, cost control, and profitability while supporting the delivery of high-quality care services.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
* Analyse financial performance, variances, and key drivers, providing commentary and recommendations.
* Support budget setting, reforecasting, and longer-term financial planning.
* Prepare board packs and present financial information in a clear, insightful way for non-financial managers.
Business Partnering
* Work closely with operational managers and care teams to monitor financial performance across branches and service lines.
* Monitor care hours delivered, cost of care staff, and gross margin performance.
Controls & Compliance
* Ensure robust financial controls and compliance with statutory requirements.
* Liaise with external accountants, banks, and HMRC as required.
* Oversee payroll checks, pension submissions, VAT, and other statutory returns.
* Maintain accurate reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Cash & Working Capital Management
* Monitor and forecast cash flow requirements.
* Oversee invoicing, credit control, and debt collection, particularly from local authorities and NHS bodies.
* Track supplier payments and ensure efficient working capital management.
Systems & Process Improvement
* Develop financial systems and reporting tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.
* Drive automation where possible to reduce manual processes.
* Ensure data integrity between care management systems and financial reporting.
