Overview
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Consultant Haematologist with a special interest in Thrombosis for a replacement 10‑PA substantive, full‑time post. The role joins an existing team of four other consultants who cover all areas of care for patients with inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, supporting the sustainability, development and expansion of the service.
Responsibilities
* Outpatient clinical work at St Bartholomew’s and Newham sites.
* Diagnostic and validation support for the regional referral NHS coagulation laboratory.
* Liaison advice to colleagues in other Barts Health services.
* Clinical support for the anticoagulant practitioner service.
* Advice to primary‑care colleagues via the Advice and Guidance portal.
* On‑call duties providing haemostasis and thrombosis advice for Barts Health and referral centres, including the Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre (non‑resident 1:7 rota).
* Commitment to research, audit and quality improvement programmes, including participation in thrombosis and anticoagulation research projects, contribution to pan‑Trust guidelines, standardisation of clinic practices and advancement of the anticoagulation stewardship programme.
Qualifications
* Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or eligibility to register within six months of interview).
* For UK‑trained applicants: holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award.
* For non‑UK‑trained applicants: evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
* FRCPath or equivalent.
* MRCP or equivalent.
Desirable
* Higher Research Degree.
* Proven publication record.
Experience (Essential)
* Experience in the management of resources.
* Experience in diagnostic and clinical haematology.
Knowledge and Skills (Essential)
* Experience in management of staff/colleagues and demonstrated management of change.
Disposition / Interpersonal Relationships (Essential)
* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other colleagues and in multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to work across sites.
