Dellner Polymer Solutions is one of five Business Units within the Dellner Group, a Swedish, privately‑owned organisation which has routes going back to 1937. We are polymer specialists for a wide range of global markets, providing innovating vibration control, rubber‑fabrication and bonding solution to our customers’ complex requirements. We have locations in the UK, India and China.
We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join our team at our Littlehampton site and lead the development of components for rail, commercial vehicles, and other industrial applications. This is a hands‑on role focused on the design and development of rubber‑to‑metal bonded parts.
Responsibilities
* Design and develop rubber-to-metal bonded products for various industries.
* Create accurate designs using Autodesk Inventor and other CAD tools.
* Perform hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) – ideally using Hexagon Marc/Mentat.
* Collaborate across departments to improve designs and processes.
* Gain customer approval for designs and contribute to peer reviews.
* Maintain Bills of Materials in the ERP system.
* Evaluate supplier enquiries and material proposals.
* Develop and test physical prototypes to validate design performance.
* Write test specifications and design test fixtures.
* Conduct risk assessments and produce formal technical reports.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with modules or experience in polymers.
* 5+ years’ experience from a manufacturing environment, preferably with rubber and elastomer materials and their mechanical properties.
* Proficient in Autodesk Inventor (preferred) and other CAD software.
* Familiarity with FEA tools – ideally Hexagon Marc/Mentat.
* Experience of working in Bluestar PLM & Dynamics 365.
* Strong engineering aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organised, self‑motivated, and able to manage multiple projects.
* Competent in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
