Multi‑Skilled Shift Engineer
Location: Deeside
Shift: 4 on 4 off shift (12-hour shifts 2 days/2 nights)
Salary: £50,000 per annum

We are looking for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our clients FMCG engineering team and play a key role in keeping our production facility running efficiently, safely, and reliably. This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern automated equipment within a continuous manufacturing environment, where your technical expertise, problem‑solving ability, and proactive mindset will directly contribute to operational performance.
As a Multi‑skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of process, packaging, and site equipment. Working both independently and as part of a skilled engineering team, you will help ensure minimal downtime and maximum production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance across production and site equipment
* Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults on processing machinery, packaging equipment, and utilities
* Respond quickly to breakdowns and equipment failures to minimise disruption to production
* Support the installation, commissioning, and repair of plant machinery and facilities
* Perform workshop duties, including machine repairs and component fabrication
* Assist manufacturing teams with line adjustments, changeovers, and technical support
* Identify and implement engineering improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
* Maintain accurate engineering documentation and maintenance records
* Work collaboratively with external contractors and engineering partners on site projects
* Train and support colleagues on the safe use and maintenance of equipment
The Person
* Engineering qualification such as HNC or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi‑Skilled Engineering
* Experience working in a high‑speed automated manufacturing environment (ideally FMCG or food production)
* Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills across electrical and mechanical systems
* Experience with automated machinery, packaging equipment, and site services
* Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
* Strong commitment to health and safety
Desirable
* Experience with integrated control systems
* Knowledge of automatic packaging and palletising systems
* Familiarity with AC drives and/or servo drive systems
