Salary: £50,000 - 85,000 per year Requirements:
* Minimum of 6 years Java experience in developing real-world applications
* Experience with GUI frameworks such as Java Fx and Java Swing
* Experience in developing intuitive data visualisation displays
* Familiarity with Linux software development and deployment
* Ability to analyze and understand user requirements
* Understanding of software development and design processes, documentation, and testing
* Knowledge of revision control and code review processes
* Familiarity with development services, such as GitLab
* Experience mentoring and developing junior software developers
* Experience leading software development teams
* A good university degree, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
* Professional, adaptable, and flexible attitude to work
* Good team-working and communication skills
* Methodical and objective approach to testing
* Willingness to learn
* Good command of the English language, both written and oral
Responsibilities:
* Undertake user interface software design, implementation, and testing for real-time applications
* Create software design documentation, conduct code reviews, and perform unit testing
* Conduct software and system design reviews, acceptance testing, and support
* Guide software development teams
* Mentor and develop junior members of the development team
* Demonstrate good practice and identify areas of improvement
* Analyze user requirements and specify system requirements
* Participate in customer meetings
* Identify emerging technologies and analyze benefits and risks
* Understand hardware architectures and appropriate software optimizations
* Analyze performance, efficiency, and risk of software and hardware technologies
* Undertake occasional travel to customer and contractor sites
