An opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse/AHP professional to join the University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Adult Safeguarding Team to provide safeguarding support across three sites: St Richard's Hospital in Chichester, Worthing Hospital, and Southlands Hospital in Shoreham-by-Sea. The Adult Safeguarding Team is a growing, progressive team dedicated to supporting the Trust in safeguarding adults at risk.
The successful applicant will offer specialist advice to staff, services, and service users on adult safeguarding issues. The role involves acting as a point of contact for raising concerns about adults at risk of abuse, and working in partnership with Local Authorities and Multi Agency Partners to ensure protection and safeguarding.
Responsibilities include supporting staff in compliance with the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Prevent, domestic violence, restraint/restriction, and learning disabilities. The role requires maintaining a high clinical presence to recognize safeguarding issues and vulnerable adults needing protection.
Additional duties involve reviewing safeguarding alerts, ensuring referrals to Adult Social Care, promoting good practice and communication within the NHS and partner agencies, supporting safeguarding enquiries, and contributing to safeguarding plans and audits. The post also entails delivering training, supporting safeguarding reviews, and representing the Trust in multi-agency meetings.
The role may involve deputizing for the Head of Nursing / Lead Nurse Safeguarding Adults, supporting the development of safeguarding systems, and ensuring staff are well-informed and equipped to handle safeguarding concerns. The post requires excellent partnership working, communication skills, and a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures under the Care Act 2014.
