What we are looking for:
We are looking to recruit a Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) Practitioner Apprentice, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a pro-active team while working toward their Level 4 Apprenticeship Standard. This role will cover key aspects of sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and social value, supporting Farnborough Airport Limited’s commitment to environmental leadership and community engagement.
This is an innovative role to support, co-ordinate and facilitate in championing and delivering the Social Value Principles of Farnborough Airport Limited, this will be done through multiple initiatives covering a variety of focus areas and stakeholders. Our Principles amount to ensuring the highest standards and particularly environmental performance and striving to be a global Sustainability showcase for airports around the world.
Reporting into the Sustainability Manager but equally involved with the Group Corporate Responsibility Manager, responsibilities will range from managing employee volunteering initiatives and fundraising for charities to carbon reduction, waste management, energy efficiency and supply chain. The individual will produce research and other written materials to help tangibly improve the airport’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) credentials both in substance and perception.
Role Responsibilities:
As the Apprentice progresses through their learning journey, their involvement and the complexity of their work will evolve.
Key responsibilities include:
* Support and drive the delivery of initiatives, campaigns and projects.
* Take responsibility for related measuring, monitoring & reporting activities including water and air quality, noise monitoring and carbon emissions.
* Assist in developing and delivering Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) strategies.
* Gather, analyse and report on data to support CR&S outcomes and drive metric-based decisions.
* Draft CR&S reports and present on outcomes when required.
* Research and maintain an understanding of the latest Environmental, Societal and Regulatory agendas to help educate the business and drive engagement.
* Support in identifying new and innovative initiatives to drive the Company’s CR&S agenda.
* Attend and participate in community engagement events such as Careers Fairs and School/College visits.
* Support in the organisation and management of company volunteering days.
* Contribute to regular employee communications promoting initiatives and providing updates on business policies and best practice.
* Develop an understanding of CS&R theory and translating this into routine business activities such as budgets, fundraising and measuring return on investment to support the management team in regular reports.

* The identification and management of occupational risks factors (such as workload/time management, clear communications and working methods) that may affect an employees’ psychological response to their work and workplace conditions.
* Appropriate Workplace Behaviour, UK Modern Slavery and General Data Protection & Retention (GDPR) Policies.
* Support the team with adhoc activities/tasks as reasonably requested.
About you: Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
* Minimum of 5 GCSE’s A*- C including English and Mathematics or equivalent.
* Evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
* Full 5-year employment/educational history required (with no unaccounted-for gaps).
* Able to obtain a clear Criminal Record Check (CRC) certificate to the required security clearance level for this role.
* Hold a full valid UK Driving License or equivalent.
* Able to obtain and maintain a Farnborough Airport Airside Driving Permit.
* Present self with professionalism and demonstrate appropriate workplace conduct at all times.
* Commitment and a positive attitude towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental & Social Governance.
* Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
* Attention to detail.
* Time management and organisation skills; able to work effectively across a dynamic and wide-ranging set of disciplines
* Starter-finisher, driven to complete tasks within agreed timescales.
* Willing, engaging attitude with an eagerness to develop professionally.
Desirable:
* Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
