Pathway Co-ordinator for Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapies

The post holder will work closely with the Transplant Manager and Deputy Transplant Manager to support the administrative and day‑to‑day operational management of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapies programme within Adult Clinical Haematology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

They will serve as a central point of contact for patients, clinicians, nursing staff, directorate management, and the contracts and finance teams, ensuring effective coordination and communication across all aspects of the transplant programme.


Main Duties

* Work closely with the Haematology Transplant Manager, Deputy Manager and Transplant Coordinators to ensure the efficient running of the transplant programme, which includes Bone Marrow (BMT), Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‑cell (CAR‑T) and Sickle Cell (HbSS) transplants and Casgevy (Vertex) Gene Therapy for TD and SCD.
* Manage the tissue typing of relatives and identification of related donors and unrelated stem cell donors in collaboration with Anthony Nolan Trust.
* Register patients on the Vertex/Kite and Liso Cel Portal, in collaboration with various external transplant teams.
* Collect and maintain accurate transplant activity records to contribute to financial planning and fulfil external reporting requirements.
* Maintain clear lines of communication with the transplant team, consultants, clinical nurse specialists, clinical support teams, referring hospitals, patients and their relatives to ensure all are fully informed of transplant schedules.


Person Specification

* Degree level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience.
* Evidence of continuing training/development.


Experience

* Previous experience of working in the NHS and using Patient Administration Systems.
* Experience of a clinical environment, preferably in a haemato‑oncology setting.
* Experience of dealing with/communicating with patients.
* Experience of managing patient pathway and working closely with other departments to progress their care.
* Evidence of data collection, evaluation and analysis.
* Experience and knowledge of stem cell transplants.
* Experience and knowledge of HLA typing.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

* Effective interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build rapport with patients and staff within the trust.
* Effective influencing, negotiating and motivational skills.
* Ability to impart complex information to patients and relatives with different levels of understanding.
* Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks appropriately and work.
* Experience of planning and organising a broad range of complex activities.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to use initiative.
* Understanding of leading change in a clinical setting.

Salary

£34,186 to £37,389 a year pa, inclusive of pro‑rata.
