JOB TITLE: Digital Communications Executive REPORTING TO: Head of Communications Summary of the role As Digital Communications Executive, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging communications to members, stakeholders, and the wider public. Reporting to the Head of Communications and working as part of a growing team, you will help implement our new communications strategy, support campaigns, create content, and contribute to the modernisation of our channels and brand. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of the Law Societys voice, at a time of change and renewed ambition. Main duties and responsibilities include: Member Communications Work with colleagues across departments to ensure timely and relevant communications Drive digital member communications including content and publication including member emails, web content and bulletins Assist in developing segmented content for different practice areas and career stages Compile ad-hoc member email communications, including scam alerts. Coordinate cross-departmentally to ensure timely delivery of standalone emails and appropriate content. Digital and social media In support of the Head of Communications, manage digital communications including social media and websites. Manage website maintenance and editing including: regular content updates, file uploads for directory and member login adding news items and job ads, including appropriate use of graphics and images acting as a central point of contact for the website, problem solving and escalating to internal and external support teams as required Draft, create and schedule social media and digital content including video Working to the Annual Communications Calendar, manage the digital content calendar and proactive posting strategy Monitor analytics and generate insights to improve engagement Media and Campaigns Support media relations and press office activity as required Design and Brand Use templates and design tools (e.g., Canva) to create and update professional visuals in line with brand guidelines for use across all Law Society communications Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines and tone of voice General Provide support for the whole Communications function to ensure a consistent level of support for the organisation Support the collection and analysis of communications KPIs Proactively work with colleagues to expand our communications presence at events and draft related content Support the Head of Communications with any other duties and tasks as required Support the Head of Communications with any other duties and tasks as required Person specification Candidates must demonstrate the essential criteria set out below. EDUCATION: Essential Minimum of 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, grade C or above, including English and Maths. And educated to A Level standard, or equivalent. Desirable A recognised digital marketing, communication, or marketing qualification. Membership of a relevant marketing or communication professional body, i.e., Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Essential Minimum 3 years experience in a communications, PR, or digital media role. Excellent writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail. Confidence creating content across digital and print channels. Experience developing and managing social media and digital communications strategies Experience creating and editing audio and video content. Experience of website/CMS/SharePoint editing (Craft CMS preferable) Familiarity with design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Experience using social media scheduling and analytics tools. Demonstrated understanding of brand and tone-of-voice. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Office, (including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint); familiarity with email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp). A collaborative, proactive mindset, and ability to work across teams. Desirable Media relations and press office experience Experience working with professional bodies, regulated industries, or membership organisations. Knowledge of the legal sector or professional services (advantageous but not essential). Proficiency with email marketing tools, with client relationship management for marketing purposes Terms of appointment General The successful candidate will be expected to apply themselves full time to the business of the Law Society of Northern Ireland. They will be expected to undergo such training or attend such courses as the Law Society may consider appropriate. The Law Society conditions of employment apply. This is a full time, permanent position. There is a probationary period of 6 months. Key benefits Salary scale for the post is £29,085 to £37,813, dependent on experience. The other principal ancillary benefits are: Individual Private medical insurance with immediate opportunity to benefit. Employee portal and mobile apps for support and claim assistance. A total of 25 days leave entitlement per annum, in addition to 13 days of public and bank holidays. A contributory pension scheme, to which the employer contributes at a rate of 10% of the salary. The two-page cover letter, outlining how they meet the set criteria, submitted along with a cv will form part of the assessment process. It is the applicants responsibility to provide evidence in this form and at assessment of how well they meet the criteria. Applicants will be appointed based only on information provided. The Society will shortlist and appoint only those candidates who, from the information supplied, best demonstrate that the candidate meets the essential and, if required, the desirable criteria. The Society reserves the right if required to apply the above desirable criteria for shortlisting purposes, in the order in which they appear. The Law Society may operate a reserve list for future vacancies (either at this level or lower levels) which may arise within the Society. The reserve list is maintained for 6 months.
