Overview
We are looking for a Data Protection Specialist to join us for a 6 month FTC. Reporting to Company Secretary the successful applicant will be responsible for Wincantons data protection policies and training of colleagues on data protection.
This role is remote with the potential to travel to sites on occasion.
How will you contribute?
Data protection
Monitor and assess compliance with the Data Protection Laws, leading data protection audits where applicable
Be accountable for Wincantons data protection policies and associated training of colleagues on data protection
Drive awareness of data protection throughout the Group
Understand the Wincanton business and how Wincanton processes and control data
Provide advice and information on Wincantons data protection obligations
Give advice and support on the monitoring and completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments and monitoring performance against the requirements of the EU GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018
Ensure correct due diligence processes are in place, with effective reporting and monitoring activities
Co-ordinate all activities relating to data subject rights from inception through to closure
Overview of procedures within: general compliance, anti-bribery & corruption and modern slavery
What will you bring?
Applied, in-depth knowledge of UK laws and regulations as they relate to a listed company working in the logistics market, specifically: Experience in a DPO role (desirable) or held a senior role within data protection
Experience in ABAC compliance, Modern Slavery policies and procedures and delivery of Code of Conduct awareness campaigns, preferred, but not essential.
Ability to work autonomously
CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe), or CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) qualifications desirable.
Commercially sensitive whilst considering business and regulatory risks
Good understanding of financials and commercial impact on decision making process
Confident and articulate communicator verbally and in writing
Well-developed influencing skills and able to sell the benefits of a strong data protection compliance culture
Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative, analysing issues and sound problem solving
