Electronics Design Engineer required for a manufacturer of life saving electronic solutions products. Part of a global group, this company offers rewarding careers, great benefits, and plenty of opportunities to grow in a supportive, energetic workplace. Hybrid working options (5 out of 10 days in the Rochester office). Benefits include - Bonus, Pension, Life Assurance, Eye care, Employee assistance programme, cycle2work scheme. The Electronics Design Engineer will work as part of R&D engineering team to design, develop and sustain electronic hardware products. You will be able to create great products that you can take pride in knowing have a positive impact in the real world. The role involves working on development cycles for the existing products (sustaining engineering) and / or new product development (NPD). For NPD you will be responsible for the product throughout its development lifecycle meaning you will need good architecture planning, design skills, keen product cost awareness and keen documentation skills to ensure the product can be efficiently manufactured. The successful candidate will be working alongside the existing multidiscipline R&D team but should also be comfortable working on their own. Electronics Design Engineer the role: Product architecture design, cost generation and complete electronics design. Analog and digital design at system, product, and circuit level. Hardware qualification testing (to include Electro-Magnetic Compatibility and Environmental testing). Working closely with the other engineers, production, and production engineering where necessary. Produce prototypes of designs where appropriate. Maintain and update existing product designs and design documentation as required. Sustaining engineering, deciding when samples are required for testing versus just comparing parameters on datasheet OR when a PCB change is required versus a just a component drop-in/replacement. Component-level troubleshooting, problem solving and root cause analysis. Act as the intermediary between R&D and Production to resolve any issues relating to component, supplier changes and new product introduction. Electronics Design Engineer requirements: Degree/HND level qualification in related discipline or equivalent training / qualifications. Proven End to end experience of the New Product Development cycle (NPD). Strong debugging and problem-solving skills. Able to review and write clear product design documents which describe the complete product in detail. Experience in the design of products for CE and global certification (EN61000, EN54, EN12094, UL, FM, NFPA) Electronic hardware architecture design, schematic capture, PCB layout (high speed, EMC and Signal Integrity best practices), BOM preparation, EMC compliance. Popular microcontrollers/Embedded systems: Microchip, STM32, 8/16/32 bit, ARM Core. Popular technologies SPI, I2C, Ethernet, I2S, USB, UART communications. Design of mixed signal low power, low voltage, low noise circuitry Design of embedded digital control circuitry and real-time microcontroller solutions Enthusiasm for continuous learning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of the key engineering team within a developing business with its culture shaped by core values of Integrity, Passion, Challenge and Teamwork.
