Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are acting on behalf of a client to recruit a

Service & Commissioning Engineer with electrical controls experience.

Reporting to the Service & Commissioning Manager

Our client manufactures chemical make-up and dosing equipment which is sold to the clean and waste water industry. Supplying to all the major water utility companies around the UK, this role will involve working approximately 75% of the time out on client’s sites and 25% based in the workshop. You will be commissioning new equipment and systems installed on client’s sites, attending CFAT’s, carrying out routine service and repairs on client’s existing equipment and responding to breakdowns. You will also be training the client’s operators on new equipment.

Skills and Knowledge / Qualifications

-Extensive experience working in a water treatment and chemical dosing environment.

-You must be a competent electrical controls engineer with some mechanical skills – you must have sound working knowledge, along with a proven track record of commissioning and fault finding within MCC’s and control panels to succeed in this role. This experience must be on a combination of hard wired and PLC/HMI driven systems.

-Sound knowledge and experience of three phase and single-phase drives. Both DOL and VSD controlled.

-Proven experience of field instrumentation commissioning and fault finding. (e.g. pressure switches, pressure transducers, actuated valves, flow meters, dosing pumps, load cells etc)

-Be able to carry out point to point checks on wiring between an MCC or control panel and field instrumentation, and have a sound understanding of signals. (e.g. digital/analogue etc)

-Competently read electrical schematics, loop and block diagrams, instrumentation literature and P&ID’s.

-Follow and interpret control philosophies and FDS documents.

-You will be a problem solver, able to work autonomously once trained on the equipment, you will have initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude.

-You must demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and be able to retain knowledge and information provided throughout training.

-You will be presentable and comfortable in a customer facing role.

-You will have good working knowledge of health and safety.

-Full driving license required.

-18th Edition BS7671 required.

-Computer literate (Microsoft Office)

-You will be travelling throughout the UK and frequently staying away from home between Monday to Friday.

Remuneration & Benefits:

This is a permanent position

£46K - £50k Basic (39 hours) – Dependent on experience

Standard hours 7am -3.30pm Monday to Thursday, 6am - 1pm Friday, however given the nature of this role, hours may differ to suit the needs of the business / clients.

All hours over 39 will be paid at time and one half, including travel time

Nights out will be in pre-paid accommodation, booked by the company

Plus £30 per night, overnight allowance

Mobile phone & laptop

Holidays start at 25 days plus stats, increasing over 3 years to reach 28 days plus stats.

Pension – employer contribution 6%

We cannot emphasise enough, the importance of a totally sound working knowledge of controls and field instrumentation as detailed above, to succeed in this role.

During the interview process, you will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of control systems and instrumentation, by way of technical questions and scenarios put to you. You will be expected to use drawings and documentation provided in order to answer the questions.
